Sustainable Farming // West Bank, Palestine
A trip sparked by my high school teacher, Dr. Savage, who first introduced me to aquaponics and various sustainable agriculture techniques and methodologies back in the day. I joined a team from my high school in Ohio to partner with the Tent of Nations project in January 2016. Tent of Nations is an active prominent sustainable farm in West Bank, Palestine that has been owned by the same family since 1916.
The beautiful mission of the farm is “to build bridges between people, and between people and the land.” They seek to bring Israelis and Palestinians together to develop understanding and promote respect for each other and the shared environment. I was particularly excited to build with my team the aquaponics system that would not just benefit the farm, but will also be a training center for others that desire to learn about aquaponics in the region.
